Hoʻomaka Hanu A Ke Aloha Polynesian Dance Society (its name means "to begin to breathe aloha") has taught hula kahiko, hula ʻauana and ʻori Tahiti from Edmonton's Blue Quill Community Hall since it became a non-profit society in 2019. In Calgary, NalaniDance describes itself as the city's only Hawaiian performance arts group; its director travels to Hawaiʻi to study hula with master kumu before bringing routines home for weddings, lūʻau and community events across Alberta and Western Canada.
